Richmond Rock Band Gets £300 Support from Darlington Lions Club

Two young students at Trinity Academy Richmond Primary and Nursery School are set to enjoy a memorable musical experience this summer, thanks to the generosity of the Darlington Lions Club.

The club recently provided a donation to help fund participation in the Rocksteady Band project, an initiative that brings music-making opportunities into schools through a partnership with Rocksteady Music School.

The project encourages students to learn and perform as part of a real band, offering weekly sessions that build confidence and teamwork alongside musical skills. Currently, 23 children aged between five and 11 are involved in the program, with many already showcasing their talents in a recent concert.

The young musicians take on a variety of roles, playing instruments such as the guitar, drums, and keyboard.

Louise Newport, representing Trinity Academy, expressed pride in the students’ progress and appreciation for the program’s impact:

“We’re incredibly proud of how much the children have accomplished in such a short period. Special thanks to Adam from Rocksteady Music School for his dedication and energy in making this a fantastic experience.”

Pat De Martino, President of Darlington Lions Club, said supporting the band aligned with the club’s mission:

“We regularly provide small grants to initiatives that help young people thrive, so we were delighted to back this brilliant project that encourages creativity and personal growth through music.”
