Police Investigate Alleged Sex Attack at Royal Children’s £30K-a-Year School

Authorities have launched an investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving students from Lambrook School, a private prep institution in Berkshire attended by Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The alleged incident is said to have occurred during a school trip and involves claims that two pupils inappropriately touched another child. The accused and the alleged victim are all students at Lambrook, which charges around £30,000 annually for tuition.

While the three royal children, students at the school since 2022, are not involved in the case, the situation has raised serious questions about safeguarding procedures at one of the UK’s top independent schools.

The matter came to light when another pupil disclosed information about the incident, prompting staff to notify the child’s parents. A subsequent conversation between the alleged victim and their family reportedly revealed further details, leading to demands for stronger action from the school administration.

Thames Valley Police have since confirmed they are looking into the allegation of sexual assault by touching, following a formal report received from the school.

A spokesperson for the school acknowledged the situation, stating:

“We are working closely with the relevant authorities and supporting all pupils involved. Due to the nature of the investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

According to sources close to the family, the parents were deeply upset by the school’s initial response, claiming the accused students were neither suspended nor interviewed immediately. The child’s father reportedly told the school he would contact police himself if they failed to act.

Following this, Lambrook staff contacted the authorities, and police are now officially investigating the claims.

The Chair of Governors, Patrick Burrowes, has initiated an independent review into how the case was handled, following a formal complaint from the alleged victim’s family.

Lambrook has said it implemented a risk assessment to ensure separation between the involved students and increased supervision, but the family has rejected these measures as insufficient and are now exploring alternative schools for their child. They are also reportedly considering legal action over what they view as failures in safeguarding protocols.

A friend of the family described the ordeal as “devastating,” adding that the child no longer feels safe in what was once their “happy place.”

The incident has triggered broader concerns among parents and staff, potentially damaging the school’s reputation for providing both academic excellence and strong pastoral care.

In a statement, police said:

“We are investigating an allegation of sexual assault by touching following a report of a child safeguarding matter which was received from a school in Berkshire.”

As investigations continue, the school has emphasized its commitment to pupil welfare, stating that it follows “robust and effective” policies while ensuring due process is respected.
