A Liverpool mum has transformed her life after shedding more than seven stone with the help of a weight-loss injection—despite facing cruel comments online suggesting the dramatic change has aged her appearance.
Ashley Nickson, 35, from Rainhill, says she’s never felt better after losing the weight she gained following the births of her two young sons, Mally (6) and Charlie (2). At her heaviest, Ashley weighed 17st 10lbs and wore size 18 to 20 clothing. Now, she’s a trim 10st and a size 10, thanks to a medication called Mounjaro and a complete lifestyle overhaul.
“I feel amazing. This has been life-changing,” said Ashley. “I’d rather deal with a few negative comments than go back to feeling unhappy and unhealthy.”
Ashley turned to Mounjaro in March 2024, after becoming deeply uncomfortable with her appearance in photos and admitting to an unhealthy lifestyle. Frequent takeaways—often picked up during school runs—and constant snacking were taking a toll. She estimates her fast-food habit alone cost more than £400 a month.
“Life got hectic after having the kids,” Ashley said. “I didn’t have time to cook or take care of myself. Ordering food felt like a quick fix for the chaos.”

After stumbling upon a discounted offer online from private clinic VOY, Ashley decided to try the weekly injections, which initially cost her £136 for a month’s supply. At first, she wasn’t convinced it would work.
“I didn’t notice much during the first two weeks—just a dry mouth and some nausea. Then the cravings started to disappear.”
Within three weeks, Ashley lost over a stone. She swapped takeaways for Hello Fresh meal kits and found huge support in her fiancé Jack Chadwick, a 36-year-old site manager, who encouraged her every step of the way.
“I was worried about telling Jack at first, but he’s been amazing,” she said. “Having that support made a huge difference.”
Ashley stopped snacking entirely and stayed committed to healthier habits. She also referred friends to the programme, earning free supplies in return. Within a year, her dedication paid off—she had lost 7st 10lbs, bringing her weight down to just over 10st.
But her transformation wasn’t universally praised. After sharing her progress on TikTok, some viewers left unkind comments, claiming she looked older due to the change in her face.
“Most of my excess weight was in my face,” she explained. “Now that it’s gone, I do have some loose skin around my jaw and under my eyes.”
Some online critics accused her of having “Mounjaro face”—a term for facial sagging following rapid weight loss. Comments ranged from “You’ve aged 15 years” to “You looked better before.”

Ashley, however, isn’t fazed.
“People can say what they like. I may look different, but I’ve probably added a decade to my life. I’ve saved money, gained confidence, and feel more present as a mum. That’s what matters.”
She’s since stopped using the jab and is working to maintain her weight through better eating habits and portion control. Although she admits the occasional craving for sweets still sneaks in, Ashley is determined to stay on track.
“Mounjaro gave me the boost I needed. If someone’s struggling like I was, I’d recommend it without hesitation. It’s given me a second chance.”
Now a proud advocate for weight-loss medication, Ashley continues to share her journey online to inspire others—undeterred by negativity.
“In person, people are always complimentary. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I feel like I’ve finally got my life back.”
